New study launched: finding the optimum magnetite grade for cement replacement

A potential avenue for reducing environmental impact of magnetite processing

As a magnetite company, we are always excited about new magnetite-related discoveries and are therefore proud to sponsor PhD student, Megan Weyers, from the University of Pretoria, as she sets out to evaluate the influence of magnetite on the properties of modified cementitious composites.

One of the main focusses of her study is to determine the optimum percentage of fine magnetite particles that can be used as Portland cement replacement in concrete. Another area of Megan’s study, which we find particularly interesting, will be looking at an avenue that could potentially reduce the environmental impact of magnetite processing.

Good luck with the study Megan – we are looking forward to hearing about your findings! 🔬
